I first decided I wanted to become an English teacher when I was just thirteen years old. I was sitting reading a book and remember turning to my mum and telling her that when I grew up, I was going to teach English. My love of literature and storytelling has been with me ever since. I have always been passionate about books, language and the theatre, and that passion is something I still bring to my teaching today.

I studied English and Classical Civilisation at the University of Surrey before completing my PGCE at Loughborough University. I began my teaching career in Chelmsford, before later moving back to Norfolk, where I have spent many years supporting students through their GCSEs.

Over the course of my career I have worked as both Head of English and Head of Year 11. These roles gave me a deep understanding not only of the academic demands of GCSE English, but also the pastoral support many students need during this important stage of their education.

Outside of teaching, I live in Norfolk and have two grown-up daughters and three much-loved rescue dogs — Daisy, Dapper and Darcey.

For the past seven years I have also worked as an AQA examiner alongside my teaching. This experience has given me valuable insight into how GCSE English exams are marked and what examiners are really looking for when awarding marks.

I originally began tutoring alongside my classroom teaching, but over time this gradually grew into my full-time focus. Through my bespoke tuition I realised just how much of a difference targeted support can make, particularly for students who may find it difficult to thrive in a traditional classroom environment.

Every student is different, and my goal is always to help each one feel confident in their own abilities.
